Who handles your data

FilmGleam is an app for digitizing photographic negatives. For privacy questions or requests about your data, contact filmgleam@proton.me.

Photos and local features

The camera is used when you choose to capture a negative. You can also choose an image through Android's picker. Negative conversion, cropping and conventional adjustments run on your device. These features do not send your photos to FilmGleam or an AI provider.

Photos, adjustments and gallery information are stored locally. The app includes no advertising or behavioral analytics tools. It does not request access to your contacts, microphone or location.

Optional generative AI enhancements

When you start a generative AI enhancement or colorization, the selected image and editing instructions are sent to an external generative AI service provider to produce the result. The provider also receives technical connection data, such as an IP address. The app does not automatically upload your entire gallery.

The selected image is transmitted to carry out the requested edit, and the result is returned to your device. Connections to the provider use HTTPS.

Under the current provider's data controls, data submitted through its service is not used to train models by default. Content may be kept in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, with security or legal exceptions. FilmGleam does not promise zero retention by the provider. Generative tools can change details in a photograph. Colorization interprets colors rather than verifying historical colors. You can use local conversion and adjustments without starting an AI enhancement.

Permissions and technical records

You can revoke camera permission in Android settings. Imported image access is limited by the images you choose in the system picker. When saving or sharing, Android delivers the image to your gallery or the app you select; that service's terms also apply.

To track AI usage and prevent duplicate requests, FilmGleam stores a local technical record of operations: request identifier, date, status, settings, duration and usage. This record contains neither the photograph nor the full editing instructions. It remains until app data is deleted. If you use a local computer to process requests, its record remains on that computer until removed there.

Request account deletion

To request deletion of your FilmGleam account and associated data, visit Delete account. You can start the request by email without reinstalling the app.

Retention and deletion

• Photos in the app: remain on your device until deleted. Items in the trash remain stored until permanently deleted. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app removes its internal storage.
• Exported photos: copies saved to Photos, files, backups or other apps are not deleted when FilmGleam is uninstalled. Delete them through those services.
• Content sent to AI: the provider's practices described above apply. FilmGleam does not provide a cloud photo archive.
• Email inquiries: we keep your address, message and any attachments you choose to send for as long as needed to address and follow up on your inquiry. You can request deletion unless retention is legally required.

Automatic backup of internal app data is disabled. Copies made through other apps depend on your settings in those apps.

This website and contact email

The site uses your browser language to suggest English or Spanish. If you choose a language with the EN / ES selector, we store only that preference in your browser's local storage. You can remove it by clearing this site's data.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver and protect the website, Cloudflare processes connection information such as IP address, browser, date and requests. We add no advertising cookies, photo upload forms, marketing analytics or external fonts. Cloudflare may use technical security mechanisms under its privacy policy.

Contact email is handled through Proton Mail, under its privacy policy. Do not send passwords or sensitive documents for routine inquiries. Providers may process data in countries other than your own.

Your choices and policy changes

You can use local features without AI, revoke permissions, remove data from your device and request access, correction or deletion of information you have emailed us. We cannot remotely recover or delete photos stored only on your phone.

Changes will be published here with an updated date. Before enabling features involving different data processing, we will update this policy and the relevant notices in the app.
